Prayer times
Prayer times in Azerbaijan: match your mosque
Prayer timetables in Azerbaijan are published by the Caucasus Muslims Board. Awwab has no method named after Azerbaijan, and we could not confirm the exact angles behind the official timetable, so the honest advice is: pick a starting point, then compare with your mosque for a few days. Awwab starts on the Egyptian method; change it once in Settings → Calculation method.
The clearest difference between mosques is Maghrib (axşam):
- If your mosque's Maghrib comes about 15 to 20 minutes after sunset, choose University of Tehran: Maghrib comes once the sky has darkened a little after sunset, with Fajr at 17.7° and Isha at 14°. The Android app does not have University of Tehran; there, choose Muslim World League and keep in mind that its Maghrib is at sunset, earlier than your mosque's.
- If your mosque prays Maghrib at sunset, choose Muslim World League (Fajr 18°, Isha 17°).
Whichever you choose, the lock may start a few minutes before or after your mosque's azan. Pray with the azan, and in Ramadan keep to the official imsak and iftar times, not to the app.
Asr and the dates of the year
The Asr setting, Ramadan and the bayrams
The madhab setting in the app only changes Asr. Hanafi puts Asr when a shadow is twice the object's height; every other option puts it when the shadow equals the object. Choose the one that matches the Asr time your mosque follows.
Reminders for Ramadan, the two bayrams and the other occasions follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. In Azerbaijan the Caucasus Muslims Board announces the dates, and they can differ by a day; follow the Board.

The Shield (optional)
Want a little help staying present?
Completely optional. Awwab calls it the Shield: when it's time to pray, the apps you choose rest with you — and come back the moment you've prayed.
Choose the apps that can wait
Pick them through Apple's Screen Time. The choice stays on your phone, and Awwab never sees which apps they are.
They rest while you pray
When a prayer begins, those apps lock. Open one and you see a verse of the Qur'an and a way to your prayer, not a harsh “Blocked”.
Pray, and they come back
Mark the prayer as prayed and everything opens. If you truly need an app first, a short snooze lifts the lock for the time you set, from 1 to 30 minutes.
Free and private
No paywall, no ads, no tracking
Every feature is free. There is an optional supporter subscription for people who want to help the work continue; it unlocks nothing extra.
There is no account and no sign-in. The app shows no ads and has no analytics or tracking. Your prayers and settings live in your own private iCloud, and we never receive them.
Awwab is on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch, and on Google Play for Android.

Questions
Is Awwab free in Azerbaijan?
Yes. Every feature is free and the app has no ads. An optional supporter subscription exists for people who want to support the work; it unlocks nothing.
Which prayer-time method should I choose in Azerbaijan?
It depends on your mosque. If Maghrib comes 15 to 20 minutes after sunset, start with University of Tehran; if it is at sunset, start with Muslim World League. Compare with your mosque for a few days and keep the closer one. On Android, which has no University of Tehran method, use Muslim World League.
Does Awwab use the Caucasus Muslims Board's timetable?
No. There is no Azerbaijan method in the app yet, and its methods are general ones, so expect a few minutes' difference from the official timetable. Follow your mosque when they differ.
Can I add or subtract minutes from a prayer time?
Not yet. Manual minute adjustments are not in the app today, so choose the closest method and follow the azan when they differ.
Is the app available in Azerbaijani?
Yes. Awwab is in Azerbaijani, as well as in English, Arabic and 11 other languages. It starts in your phone's language; you can change it at any time in Settings → Language.
Does it work without the internet?
Yes. Prayer times and the Qibla are calculated on your phone, so they work offline.
Do I have to allow Screen Time?
Only for the lock. It is built on Apple's Screen Time, which you allow once. You can skip it during setup, and everything else in the app works without it. The list of apps you choose stays on your phone.
Is there an Android version?
Yes. Awwab is on Google Play for Android, and on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch.
