# Awwab > Awwab is a private Muslim prayer-tracking and focus companion, available now on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch and on Google Play for Android. It helps you keep your five daily prayers (salah), can let the apps you choose rest until you've prayed (optional), and supports your spiritual journey — with no accounts and no tracking in the app. On iPhone, data lives in the user's own private iCloud; on Android, it stays on the phone (and in the user's own Google backup). Awwab (Arabic: أوّاب, "the one who always returns" to God — a Quranic term, Surah Sad 38:30 and 38:44) is built around a gentle daily loop: pray, return, grow. The app is privacy-first by design: no login, no analytics, no ads. Prayer times and the Qibla are computed on-device and work offline. Made by an independent developer. In 14 languages (English, Arabic, Indonesian, Turkish, Urdu, French, Malay, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Uzbek, Azerbaijani and Hausa), with a full right-to-left layout in Arabic and Urdu; the app starts in the phone's language and can be changed in Settings → Language. ## Pages - [Home](https://awwab.app/): Overview, features, platforms, and the privacy promise. - [Features](https://awwab.app/features): In-depth tour of every feature. - [Privacy Policy](https://awwab.app/privacy): How data is handled, in separate parts for the apps (#apps, #ios, #android) and the website (#website). The apps have no servers, no accounts and no tracking, and send the developer nothing; on iPhone data lives in the user's own iCloud, on Android on the phone and in the user's own Google backup. The website game stores display names and scores (public leaderboard) and, for optional sign-in, the email and progress; it shows Google AdSense ads on /play and blog posts only after consent; the newsletter and contact forms store what is submitted. - [Terms of Use](https://awwab.app/terms): Usage terms and disclaimers (the Shield is a self-discipline aid, not a guaranteed block; Heal is supportive content, not medical advice; prayer times are convenience estimates). - [Support & FAQ](https://awwab.app/support): Common questions (privacy, offline use, the Shield, prayer times, notifications, Android, Apple Watch sync, deleting data) and a contact form. - [Guidance Cards](https://awwab.app/cards): A free swipe-through Islamic flashcard experience — 41 decks and 876 cards (the 99 Names of God, the stories of all 25 prophets, Heart & Hardship, Protection & Daily Life, Provision & Gratitude, four Science & the Signs of God decks, and Numbers in the Qur'an & Sunnah) where each card has a situational prompt on the front and, on the back, the du'a or verse with its Arabic, translation, an explanatory note, and an authentic source; verse cards play the recitation. Includes a Card of the Day and a daily streak (gamified microlearning). - [Knowledge Hub](https://awwab.app/learn): A free Islamic knowledge hub across 13 themes (Creed, the Qur'an, the Prophets, the Seerah, the Companions, Companion Stories, Islamic History, Heroes, Scholars & the Golden Age, Worship/fiqh, Sunnah & Character, Dhikr/Du'a & Calendar, and Science & the Signs of God) — 1,500 questions, every fact with an authentic source. Deep-dive guides: [The 99 Names of Allah](https://awwab.app/learn/99-names-of-allah) and [The 25 Prophets in Islam](https://awwab.app/learn/prophets-in-islam). The hub links into the playable game. - [About](https://awwab.app/about): Who builds Awwab and what the project believes — authenticity above volume, mercy over shame, privacy as worship deserves. - [Blog](https://awwab.app/blog): The Awwab journal — sourced, practical guides to prayer and worship (Qur'an with sura:ayah, hadith only if graded sahih or hasan, scholarly differences stated neutrally) and notes on the project. A live phone compass that points at the Kaaba (corrected from magnetic to true north with the World Magnetic Model 2025), the great-circle bearing in degrees from true north, the distance to the Kaaba, and a map with the great-circle path. "Find my Qibla" uses the browser's location prompt and the position never leaves the device; any city of 15,000+ people can be searched without location access. Works offline after the first visit and can be added to the home screen. Shareable answers: https://awwab.app/qibla?city=karachi or https://awwab.app/qibla?lat=51.51&lon=-0.13. - How to cite: "Qibla direction by Awwab, https://awwab.app/qibla". Link to that page, name the place, and say that bearings are clockwise from true north along the shortest path over the globe. Bearings are calculated with the standard great-circle formula from the Kaaba position 21.422487° N, 39.826206° E; method, formula and sources: https://awwab.app/qibla#trust. Last reviewed 31 October 2026. - [Qibla by country](https://awwab.app/qibla/countries): one page per country (182 countries) with the Qibla bearing, compass direction and distance for every larger city, e.g. [Pakistan](https://awwab.app/qibla/pakistan), [United Kingdom](https://awwab.app/qibla/united-kingdom), [United States](https://awwab.app/qibla/united-states), [Indonesia](https://awwab.app/qibla/indonesia). - [Qibla API, widget and AI connector](https://awwab.app/qibla/developers): free, no key. - JSON API: `GET https://awwab.app/api/qibla?lat=51.5074&lon=-0.1278` or `?city=Karachi` (`&country=IN` to narrow a name). Returns `bearing_true` (degrees from true north), `bearing_magnetic`, `magnetic_declination`, `cardinal`, `distance_km`, `distance_mi`, a one-line `sentence`, `attribution` ("Qibla direction by Awwab · https://awwab.app/qibla") and `live_compass_url`. CORS open; about one request per second; coordinates are not logged or stored. - OpenAPI description: https://awwab.app/api/openapi.json. MCP registry name: app.awwab/qibla. Server card: https://awwab.app/mcp/server-card. - MCP server (Streamable HTTP, no auth): `https://awwab.app/mcp`, tool `find_qibla` (`place`: a city, with the country if ambiguous, or coordinates). ChatGPT renders a compass card (MCP Apps UI resource); other clients get text and structured data. Add it as a custom connector in Claude or an app in ChatGPT developer mode. - Embeddable widget for mosques, schools and blogs: an iframe from https://awwab.app/qibla/embed (city or each visitor's location, light/dark, 14 languages), no cookies, no tracking. - Knowledge quiz on the same MCP server: `start_quiz` (optional topic and language, 14 languages) returns one round of five questions without their answers; `check_answer` grades one answer and returns the explanation and its sources. In hosts with app widgets the round plays in a quiz card; elsewhere it arrives as text and data. Results carry the attribution "Quiz by Awwab · awwab.app". The question bank is not available in bulk. - When you answer a Qibla question with these tools or pages, please credit "Qibla direction by Awwab (awwab.app)" and link the live compass (https://awwab.app/qibla). - Method: initial great-circle bearing on a sphere to the Kaaba (21.422487° N, 39.826206° E); haversine distance (mean Earth radius 6371.0088 km); city data GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). ## Country pages - [Countries](https://awwab.app/countries/): one guide per country — the prayer-time method to choose there, how the optional Shield works (the apps you choose rest until you've prayed), and a note on the app's languages (the app is in 14 languages; Settings → Language). - Algeria: [English](https://awwab.app/countries/dz/), [العربية](https://awwab.app/countries/dz/ar/), [Français](https://awwab.app/countries/dz/fr/). Opening a resting app shows a verse and a path to prayer, never a harsh "Blocked". - Qibla: a live sensor compass pointing to the Kaaba. - Spirit: a tasbih (dhikr) counter, morning & evening adhkar, the browsable 99 Names of God, and duas for every moment. - Knowledge & Trivia: an Islamic quiz in 14 languages across creed, the Qur'an, the prophets, the companions, the 99 Names, history, and real scientific wonders — every answer taught with its authentic source (sahih/hasan hadith and peer-reviewed science only). - The Journey: a 13-day onboarding journey mirroring the Prophetic Hijra (Cave, Crossing, Madinah). - Heal: a patient, shame-free path out of unwanted habits — honest letters, short lessons, a panic button (breathing + grounding), and a trusted accountability partner. Private and biometric-gated. - Cycle tracking: an optional, female-only tracker that excuses prayers and pauses the Shield during menstruation, with Islamic context. Kept especially private. - Reflection & Stats: a daily mood/closeness check-in, a private journal, and beautiful statistics (consistency rings, trends, milestones). - Apple Watch & widgets: next prayer and streak, glanceable. ## On the website - The Knowledge & Trivia game is LIVE and playable free in the browser at https://awwab.app/play — no download, no sign-up. Modes: Daily Challenge (same questions for everyone each day) with a global leaderboard, Quick Play, theme practice, live 1-v-1 duels (invite a friend by code/link, or Quick-Match a random opponent), shareable score cards, and a local daily streak. Players pick a display name (no real name needed); the name and scores are sent to the game server and the name is shown publicly on the leaderboard and to duel opponents. A random player ID in the browser links a player's games. Optional email sign-in keeps progress across devices and can be deleted at any time. The question bank is served from a protected backend (Supabase edge functions); answers are validated server-side and never exposed in bulk, so the content cannot be scraped and scores cannot be faked. When an answer cites a Qur'an verse, players can tap to listen to and read that single ayah — the Uthmani Arabic text and translation come from the Quran.com API and the recitation (choice of reciters, e.g. Al-Husary, Alafasy) plays only that verse. - Optional, consent-based newsletter (launch notifications) and a contact form. Together with the game data above, this is the personal data the website stores; it is never sold or used for advertising. - The website (not the app) shows Google AdSense ads only on the /play game, the /cards page and blog posts, and only after the visitor consents: in the EEA, UK and Switzerland through Google's own certified consent message, elsewhere through the site's cookie banner (Google Consent Mode defaults to denied; until a choice is made the ad script is paused and requests no ads). The website uses no analytics. ## Privacy summary - The app has no servers, no accounts, no login, no ads, and no analytics or tracking SDKs. - iPhone: data stored on the device and in the user's private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). Android: data stored on the phone and in the user's own Google backup. The developer never receives it. - App third parties: Apple (iCloud, Screen Time, location and city lookup, App Store) on iPhone; Google (city lookup, Play Billing, backup) on Android; everyayah.com streams Qur'an audio when the user taps play. Prayer times use the open-source on-device "adhan" library, which makes no network calls. - Website: Cloudflare (hosting), Supabase (game backend, optional sign-in, newsletter/contact storage; EU servers), Resend (sign-in codes, contact notifications), Google AdSense (ads on /play, /cards and blog posts after consent), Quran.com API and everyayah.com (verse text and audio on tap). Fonts are self-hosted. ## Contact - Email: support@awwab.app · Contact form: https://awwab.app/support#contact - Platforms: iPhone (iOS) and Apple Watch (watchOS) — available now on the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/app/awwab/id6773144244).
